with special master instructor
Lee Ali  from Los Angeles

Lee Ali is a specialist in Moroccan dance and folklore. She is a multi-talented dancer, singer and drummer with a vast artistic repertoire and performance history. Lee began her career in the late 1970's; the golden era of "old style" belly dance. To date, she has completed more than 2,000 performances in theater, nightclubs, and film, including a 40-state tour of the US and Canada, and a 3-month long dance engagement in Greece. From 1980-88, Lee was director of her own dance studio in the Arab quarter of Brooklyn, New York, where she taught Oriental dance and yoga. In 1996, she produced the documentary film: Belly Dancing In America: exploring the history and diversity of Middle Eastern dance. Lee was director of the Berber Ballet, a dance and drum ensemble specializing in modernized dances of Morocco and the Maghreb. A skillful drummer and percussionist, Lee plays the tbal, (a double-sided drum traditionally played by men) and sings Arabic, Greek and French. Lee holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from UC, Irvine and is currently writing a book on Moroccan dance and trance rituals.

Wild Yoga with Dennis Eagan
Dennis Eagan began his yoga practice in 1989 and began teaching in 1998. Way before this, and to this day - Dennis is about the outdoors. First an adventurer. Then and now, a guide - in more ways then one.

Always drawn to the outdoors, now Dennis Eagan is about Wild Yoga. Perhaps only someone with Dennis's rich outdoor experience* and skills could be inspired to create Wild Yoga.

Wild Yoga is born. While on an eighteen-day float trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, Dennis caught a glimpse of his ultimate vision: blending yoga and the outdoors. He was inspired, and decided to dedicate himself fully to the study of yoga. Dennis left Anchorage, Alaska and moved to Berkeley in 1997 to study with Rodney Yee. He graduated from Rodney's Advanced Studies Program at the Piedmont Yoga Studio in 1998. He also studied intensively with Donald Moyer and Tony Briggs. Dennis has been teaching yoga now for six years, and conducts workshops throughout the West.

Fitting yoga style accordingly. Dennis's yoga experience ranges from gentle restorative classes at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Oakland to vigorous vinyasa-style classes at Seventh Heaven Body Awareness Center and Iron Works climbing gym in Berkeley. He teaches with an Iyengar-influenced style, combined with the breath awareness of vinyasa and the universal principles of Anusara yoga.

A natural and energetic partnership. Dennis leads Wild Yoga Adventure Retreats that blend the practice of yoga with the art of wilderness travel. In this endeavor he shares the fullness of his 20 years of outdoor education and wilderness guiding. By doing so he explores the parallels between skiing, climbing, paddling and yoga. And he encourages his students to explore the energetic patterns of the wilderness within the body and to express poses from there.
