Presenting ELMAR KURGPOLD, tenor saxophonist

A lively mix of soulful hits

When Elmar began playing music back in 1980, he was drawn to the sounds of the flute and the saxophone, but being that the flute was a popular instrument among his classmates, he ended up choosing the saxophone. Over the years, Elmar has grown to love the saxophone due to its likeness to the human voice and its wide range of expressiveness. He is passionate about music and cannot stop thinking about music in every capacity. When he was six, it was fun and play for him to just plunk around on a neighbor's piano. His true passion is performing music, and although he is a multi-instrumentalist, playing saxophone is the one instrument that allows him to express his feelings the most. He says he just enjoys playing for people and what comes through is a soulful, earthy blend of fun.

He has played in the internationally famous USC Trojan Marching Band and with a band called Marin Sass, a rhythm and blues band that performed at local Marin clubs and functions. Currently, he is performing as a saxophone soloist, playing popular tunes from the 50's to present.

Elmar will be playing throughout the afternoon on Dec. 8th & 15th!
